6 female middle school students
Two male middle school students used an AI website to create deepfake child sexual abuse material by superimposing female classmates' faces onto pornographic images. The images were created off-campus and shared among students, leading parents to come forward publicly. School officials initially stated they could only address on-campus incidents.
Outcome: No criminal charges initially due to lack of specific Alabama law. The incident directly inspired Alabama's Child Protection Act of 2024 (HB 168), signed April 30, 2024, criminalizing AI-generated deepfake depictions of children.
